Vintage Photo Contest Continued…

Hi everyone, how are you? It is dreary and overcast here today, barely 70 degrees and I’m COLD. ha….sure makes for a SLLLOOOWWWW moving day, you know?

Well, all of our Fall 2013 MANUFACTURED GOODS {yes, I yelled that, I can’t believe they are here!!} have been photoed by my talented photographer brother in law. Seriously, he nailed it with these photos.

Hopefully sometime this week I will have a second to sit down and tell you in detail about the hoodies, but today I want to focus on these beautiful photos we have. First, let me tell you a bit about our models.

The above gorgeous girl you see peeking through the window there is Nora. She comes from a gorgeous family. Seriously. Don’t believe me? Here’s her mom:

That’s Tracy and her dog Winnie. Isn’t this photo amazing? Seriously, their dogs got so into our photo shoot. They would pose and pose…like they were the models. SO DARLING.

Anyway, Tracy’s house…umm…AMAZING. Not kidding. All these photos were taken someplace in her home and I kid you not, would could not have found a better place to stage these hoodies. I feel her home just makes our hoodies look good, if you know what I mean.

{Oh and did I mention that Tracy has SIX beautiful kids?!? YES! They are amazing people!}

Again, I’m not going to go into details about the hoodies, as I’m planning on doing that later via blog posts, video and a look book, but I wanted to tell you that we are carrying on the Vintage Photo contest, just now we’ll be using a daily photo from our most recent photo shoot with our new hoodies.

So not technically vintage photos…but still great photos. So share, share, share, ok?

Oh and special thanks to my darling girl models Maizy and Hannah. Her momma is the ultra creative lady from HERE. And special thanks to Clarie. She is gorgeous and a good friend of Nora’s. How’d I end up surrounded by such gorgeous people?!?

So in closing…can you help us share? Today, I’m going to have you share the same photo I put up on Instagram this morning. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

Don’t forget that Preorders start July 30!

I will go into more details about that this week as well….but I will say, I have very limited amounts of each item. So make sure you plan on getting yours then!

In the meantime, want to win $100?? Here’s how!

Vintage Photo Contest {Sort Of}: The Lizzy

Ok, so I couldn’t wait much longer. Seriously, I’m so excited about this fall line. I spent the morning working on a video that better explains our new sizing…I think it’s going to be so helpful! I’m so happy to say that everything is running true to size, so no more silly American Apparel sizing. WHOOHOO!! 😉

Anyway, I have been giving some sneak peeks out via our email blasts. Do you subscribe to our email blasts? You don’t? Learn how to do so HERE…as I always give sneak peeks to our subscribers first. Oh, this time around I used Instagram, so you might want to make sure to subscribe to that feed as well {HERE}, if you don’t already.

So anyway, the Lizzy.Exactly two years ago, my mother in law and I created a pattern for side zip up hoodie. I had seen several side zips before, but again, I wanted to make it better, and put my “twist” to it….so a high neck, longer torso, and soft ribbed cuffs later, we came up with The Lizzy.

We made one sample {as seen on our model Kate}, but we had so many troubles with it {I’ll bore you the details}, but mainly, it boiled down to the fact that we found we obviously couldn’t hand make these at a decent price point, so the concept for the Lizzy had to be aborted, unfortunately.

Fast forward to last fall, when I was creating a manufactured line. I threw in the Lizzy as a side note {meaning, I ordered less of the Lizzy than any other style this season, so keep that in mind 😉 }…but during the product development, I quickly discovered the Lizzy was becoming one of my favorite hoodies.

During our photo shoot last week with my brother in law, we all stood in awe at how beautiful the hoodie really looked on…..

Pretty certain we can all agree, the Lizzy is a stunner. {Above photo on Nora, our model this season, taken by DASO photo}. I’m not going to show you all the photos for the Lizzy just yet. I’m waiting to do a big lookbook reveal to show you all the gorgeous shots and details of this item. But I figured one little sneak peek wouldn’t hurt, right?

What do you think? Do you love it??

PLEASE NOTE: The Lizzy will be available for preorder on July 30. Please stay tuned for preorder details.

Vintage Photo Contest: The Mini Black Lacey Zip Up

First things first. Do you follow us on Instagram? You don’t? Uh-Oh. That means you missed the sneak peek for Instagram followers only of another Fall 2013 piece. Run HERE and follow us!

Oh guys. I’m sorry but I have to go way back to the first Sam Hassas photo shoot that I talked about HERE {oh and I might have to revisit this shoot a few more times before we’re done ;)} because I couldn’t live with myself if I never talked about this photo:

Oh boy. These two. This is Jake and his buddy Emma Love. I talk a little bit about these two HERE. Basically, they have a love/hate relationship. It’s awesome. Kinda. Ok, not.

See, love/hate.

But really, truly, these two are friends. Their friendship runs deep. They love each other like siblings and really know each other and all their faults. I guess that’s what happens when you grow up with someone and spend nearly every day together.

At the beginning of the school year Jake would say over and over that he’d marry Emma Love. They don’t talk about that anymore, but my mom and I kept laughing yesterday about IF they did…wow, what a treasure trove of pictures we’d have for the wedding slide show. My mom said it’d take an hour. That sounds about right! ha.

And who can blame Jake for loving her…just look at how darling she is!

And if you know Emma, you know she has spunk. Major, major spunk!

And you know, I didn’t even talk about the hoodie! ha! This is the Lacey Zip Up. And this item is AMAZING. In fact, if you like this one, stay tuned for our Manufactured fall line. I think you’ll be excited!

Vintage Photo Contest: The Ruffle Cardigan

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Did you hear that Evy’s Tree has teamed up with some special vendors and is giving away either a Canon 7D, a Macbook pro or $2000 in cash?!? No?? Head over HERE to enter.

We’re still forging ahead with our Vintage Photo Contest! Like I said last week as soon as we start getting all our photos back from our manufactured items, I’ll move on from the vintage ones to the currents ones, but we’ll continue with the giveaway. 🙂

Today’s item is actually in both adult and mini form, and we have sold SO MANY of these guys!!

We offered the girls in a light heather grey and the adults in the same as well as a coffee color and a cranberry color.

Our little girl pictures were also taken during the Spring photo shoot with Sam Hassas that we have been highlighting in the last blog post. Our models are always so darling. This little girl is a daughter of a good friend.

And my adult models…sheesh, am I not blessed with such beautiful friends? This is my friend Emily.

The pictures with Emily were done at a beautiful equestrian farm here in Sonoma County. So, so lovely and the element of the horses turned out so great.

I adore this photo! Love how you can see the horse peeking his head out!

Vintage Photo Contest: The Diana Wrap

Happy Day after the 4th everyone!! Hopefully you all enjoyed your day yesterday! We had such a lovely, impromptu time. Brandon was speaking at a youth camp in the morning, and we were unsure of the time he was actually going to return home, so really didn’t have any plans at all for the day. However, we were treated with a nice surprise when he came home in the early afternoon and we were able to throw together a lovely BBQ with some dear friends who were visiting from out of town. It was so relaxing, and ended with us chasing the fireworks around town, hoping to get a good view from our car. ha. That’s what you get for not planning ahead I guess. 😉

So back to the Vintage Photo Contest. I’m planning on only doing this for another week or so, until all our photos are back of our Fall manufactured line, then we’ll start doing something similar with those photos. Yesterday, we started previewing photos from our second Sam Hassas photo shoot. Today’s photos are still from that photo shoot…The Diana Wrap:

Somwhere along the line I bought a wrap type item from Norstrom. It was the first time I was introduced to the wrap concept, and I loved the idea…of a lovely, slimming piece of fabric that you could cozy up in. I became obsessed with wraps that were out there and one thing I realized about them, very quickly in fact, was that many of them were too busy. Had too many buttons, or neck detail, or weren’t long enough. I had this vision of making the perfect wrap and begged my mother in law in to help me.

After many tries, we came up with a very simple design that didn’t make me feel like I was a house, but covered enough that I felt I could hide underneath it if I was having a bad day.

We listed the first couple ones with our spring line in 2010. They sold like wildfire. Sam captured our model Andrea wearing this gorgeous coral number during this second photo shoot.

Andrea did such a great job modeling this wrap. She shows how it can dress up a simple outfit in seconds and make you look like a million dollars…all without sacrificing comfort.

I also love how Sam incorporated my parent’s house and my dad’s vintage car in these shots. It really gives the wrap an edge and adds an interesting dichotomy to the look.

I’m asked often if we will manufacture the Diana Wrap. Like most of the hoodies that I am going back and reviewing for mass production, my honest answer is I’m not sure. The wrap craze has escalated to the point that there are many lovely pieces created by many wonderful designers out there and my product, when it really boils down to it, isn’t a whole lot different than theirs. And due to the fact that I am still a small company, they are often able to offer theirs at a better price. So for now, we probably won’t revisit the wrap, simply because it’s quite costly to make.

But who knows…maybe we will. 🙂
